This school represents the worst in public education. There is no real teaching that goes on. Particularly since Covid the teachers just dial it in. They offer no tutoring. There is no rigor, even in Advanced classes. They are not prepared for college. Discipline is non existent. Brawls are daily. No consequences. Bullying is rampant. No one cares. Kids are not safe. Even though it’s a diverse school, the white kids get everything. It is not inclusive at all. There is no college counseling. Basically, no one cares about the kids and it shows. The district as a whole is a complete failure, as they have had to close 5 schools. If you want your kids to have a positive school experience and be prepared for college, send them somewhere else.

New principal needs more experience and how to communicate better with parents. This school staff needs more support for student behaviors and giving students consequences. Teachers are leaving which shows they are unhappy with the school.

Knowing now what I have come to know throughout my years at Miles, I would have definitely found a way to send my child elsewhere. To say that there is a toxic environment at this school is putting it mildly.

Principal here does not take bullying issues seriously and mostly delegates her staff to do handle these issues.Kindness challenge and disability awareness month campaigns in this school are just campaigns for show. Principal does not model these campaigns genuinely and does not expect all her teachers to promote or model them either with our experience. Almost all staff we experienced in this school were awesome. We were not lucky this school year. My son with special needs was bullied recently. Teacher tolerated kids laughing mocking my son in classroom for many months to the point of escalation kids harrassing my son during lunch taking his food to make him cry just for laughs. I have also caught this teacher with my own eyes actually mocking my son in the past. Teacher also has made inappropriate comments in past discriminating my son with his disability. It was unbelievable as if this teacher never had a special needs student. Emotional well being of students was not important to this teacher obviously. Other parents from this class have actually also complained of bullying and teacher was not addressing it. Sweeping under the rug. My son felt unsafe that he had to move to another classroom with a different teacher and now wants to leave school. He has many friends here and is willing to go to a new school. He does not trust the school's leader anymore. When I asked help from principal, she actually justified the bullying with words "Kids just don't understand". These were not preschoolers, they were 9 yr olds! Justified teacher "teacher is just an easy going guy maybe he feels he does not need to do anything" when I brought up concern he was tolerating laughing mocking in class. With our experience principal and teacher showed no genuine care for my son's situation or no accountability. My son's mental health has significantly been affected due to trauma of bullying. Teacher or principal not once showed apology even slightly to my son or me for the mistreatments. Kids that bullied my son never were directed to apologize to my son. Just basic human respect was not being shown to my son and it was tolerated unfortunately.Hopefully in the coming future, principal will change for the better and actually do her job to prioritize student safety with regards to bullying. Filed complaints to school district. Principal's tolerance speaks volumes why the bullying can escalate and continue in this school. A true good leader will model a good example. Not her!

i started working at CWA last august (2023) and it’s been one of my best jobs since graduating high school in 2015. i can’t speak to the school hours, cause im part time and only help out after school. with that being said, my experience has been pretty dope. most of the staff i’ve encountered with, have respected me and been quite nice. the kids are awesome and truly make working this job fun. their smart, funny and truly want to learn more about social issues impacting their young lives. i feel i’ve done a pretty good job at offering them a space to do just that, with the support the the after school extended day staff. while there are improvements, that i do notice; at the end of the day my priority is ensuring the kids in my care feel seen, respected and appreciated. which in my experience, isn’t easy in a work environment that does not want to be better. CWA has not given me a reason to doubt that they don’t want that same vision for their kiddos. which makes what i do, that much more fun and impactful.

The concern is real and sadly, it will take years for CWA to recover from the appointment of Susan Rice and the leaders she has hired to be her “yes mam” crew (there are 4-5 in particular). Look up the articles from Palm Valley School to see how history is repeating itself at Charles Wright. It is literally heartbreaking. Students are generally okay unless their parents speak up about ANYTHING. For employees, there is a constant fear of the Head of School: retaliation, impulsive and irrational emails, unprofessional behavior, and rash and reactive behavior at every turn. At least one person is fired a month (on average) - not exaggerating. The latest veil of lies is that folks are “medical leave.” However, they are never to be seen again and are quickly replaced with new folks who are none the wiser to the chaos and dysfunction. There has been so much turnover in HR, CFO, and accounting teachers that didn’t get W2s until mid-April. Pay and benefits have been compromised. And it’s always “someone else’s fault.” I can recommend CWA’s Lower and Middle School, but beware of trusting the head of school or the other division directors and after care leadership. They will label you as “not a fit” or “not mission aligned” if you are not 110% compliant and supportive of every policy and idea they come up with—and there are many! There are chameleons here who will play you like they play the board of trustees. Most disappointing is that the trustees are enabling the current administration to stay in the position of power and this dictatorship is crushing the heart and soul of CWA.

I was once physically attacked and hit in the face at this school. I got in trouble and yelled at for “cussing”. What happened to actions speak louder than words? (the student that hit me wasn’t even spoked to, and didn’t receive any punishment.) And no, this isn’t a rare experience at North Middle. This happens A LOT. It’s a sad excuse for a school.

The teachers at Murwood are phenomenal. They are exactly how you hope educators to be - engaged, caring, bright and wonderful with the kids. While the teachers are top notch, the district is the bottom of the barrel. They are poorly organized and create unnecessarily barriers to education. District policies are written without regard for parents or students. They completely disregard data and research related to education. It is unfortunate given the resources available (both financially and in the wonderful teachers) to the district that it is lead by individuals who oppose any efforts to ensure education is available to the children. By way of example, on Friday, April 19, 2024 they informed parents they needed to appear, in person, the next week on Monday (4/20), Tuesday (4/21), or Wednesday (4/22) to prove they reside in the district. Another example is that while they are mandated to include parent input if a child has an IEP, they will completely disregard parental concerns. They will, of course, check the box and say, "I heard what you said," and then impose district policies written without regard to the student. The actions show that the input was heard, and ignored. The problems with the administration create a cloud over the wonderful teachers on the ground level. If you have the option, avoid this district until the voters are able to replace the board with individuals who are more interested in the students.

We have had an extremely disappointing experience at Westgate. We found it unwelcoming, we experienced bullying, teachers that played favorites, teachers that didn’t have a mastery in the subject matter they were teaching, as well as multiple substitute teachers in a year. We found the leadership team to be lacking and we are looking forward to moving on to a new school. We feel that we were misled when we initially toured the school. There were so many claims and promises made that we never saw in our children’s time here. They are great at marketing their product but their follow through is poor.
